The governors and school staff of Ringwood School place the upmost importance in ensuring the emotional wellbeing of all our students.

In April 2021 we launched the “Be Kind to Yourself Campaign“, which we introduced in response to a student wellbeing survey . Our students told us that they were trying to manage exam stress, anxiety, relationship issues and social media pressure. This initiative focuses on all aspects of Mental Health and Wellbeing, and is championed by our Sixth Form Mental Health Ambassadors. Check them out on our YouTube channel.

Advice for Parents

CAMHS have created some ‘recipes for wellbeing’ cards, which aim to help parents and carers support a young person experiencing difficulties with their mental wellbeing. The cards give advice on: anxiety, low mood, bullying, sleep difficulties, exam stress, loss and bereavement, problematic gaming, crisis, body image, gender identity, sexuality, eating difficulties, panic attacks, transition to school and boosting self-esteem.

Think Ninja

We are delighted to inform you that we have recently introduced ThinkNinja®, a new app co-designed by clinical psychologists and secondary school students. The app provides young people with a range of strategies and coping skills to support their mental health, emotional well-being and to build greater resilience. ThinkNinja® is free to download for all students on a smart device such as a phone or tablet. The app supports young people in a range of daily life issues such as being stressed, feeling low or having unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that might be triggered by pressures such as exams, struggling to make friends and social situations. ThinkNinja® was created by Healios, an organisation which has extensive experience in providing a range of high quality specialist mental health services on behalf of the NHS.

The personal data that your child enters into ThinkNinja® will not be shared with the school. The personal data is stored securely at Healios and is used to help improve ThinkNinja®. The school will only be receiving anonymous data reports on the usage of the app to help in our evaluation of how successful the uptake and usage of the app is at our school.
